1 Minute Please!

Zafir Huq is a young guitarist who has managed to 'blow minds' and 'sweep feet' at concerts. Also an undergraduate student of Media and Communications at the Independent University of Bangladesh, Zafir happens to be one of the youngest members in his band Nemesis. A rock musician, Zafir is also influenced by sufi music, fusion, classical and soft rock.

What was the first song that you learnt to play on the guitar?
The first ever song that I learned was Poth Chola by the famous Artcell. I played it on one string and eventually was curious to play the whole song.

What are your three favourite possessions?
First and second are easy – my car – Toyota 90; I take care of it with my life! The third one is my Gibson guitar.

If given 1,00,000 takas, what would you do with them?
I would plan a holiday by the beach.

What project are you working on now?
None at the moment, except for jamming and performing with my band Nemesis.

Which musicians / singers would you like to work with in the near future?
There are too many to name, but amongst my favourites are Slash, Joe Satriani, David Howell Evans (Edge) from U2.

What is your motto in life?
You will never know your limits if you always stay by your comfort zone.

When you are not playing the guitar, you are.....?
I'd like to say sleeping, but ill go with eating.

If banished to a far away island, what are the three things that you would take with you?
A smart and willing companion, my guitar and a boat to get us off the island!

What music are you listening to right now?
Some Incubus numbers.

What or who inspires you?
There are many, but one I'd have to mention Maher Khan.
