WHICH LITERARY ICON ARE YOU?
We read novels, poems, short stories, essays. It may be for school or a course, but we still get to acquaint ourselves deeply with literary pieces many writers have put their heart into writing. Have you ever wondered which of these seemingly boring writers you’re most like? You may dislike them for putting you through so much work at school, but you’re probably more like them than you know.
Virginia Woolf: You’re righteous and very serious about your education. Unlike most people, you pay keen attention to detail. You are somewhat critical of the rich and popular and tend to dislike arrogance and pomposity. You focus more on the everyday details of life than anything else. You’re extremely down-to earth and simplistic, known for your eloquence and thoughtfulness. However, you write in paragraphs rather than sentences, which may be rather dull for impatient people.
Marcel Proust: Literature is your strongest subject at school. However, your essays are always too long for even your teachers. You want to do the world good in your own ways, but are afraid that you’re terribly failing. You often hang out with popular kids to understand more about the people around you, but to no avail. The extravagance means nothing to you as your mind diverts itself to the charms of everyday life. At the end of the day, you’re just a person seeking comfort and happiness.
Jane Austen: Your humour is almost too sophisticated for people around you. Some people may think of your life as ideal, but you’re only trying to live your life the way you wish others did. You’re very close with your siblings, dubbing them as your best friends. People only ever appreciate your wit but not your mind. You ship couples that constitute of two very different people, always looking for a person who complements you more than anything else. However, you’re very logical and never let your emotions get the best of you. Economically, you’re pretty stringent and have had a bank account since you were thirteen.
Leo Tolstoy: You’re a little too serious about everything, giving people a hard time to ease up with you. You’re probably not the most academically gifted but you’re still talented and insightful. You’re a fitness freak and take your Physical Education class too seriously, to the dismay of your peers since they’re really just trying to have fun. However, you’re also the person who never judges others ruthlessly. You try to reason with the situation when everyone has turned their backs on it. You’re all about the deeper meaning of everything around you.
Emily Dickinson: Relatives only ever see your head when you open the door to your bedroom and greet them, otherwise they totally forget about your existence. You keep to yourself all the time and have one or two best friends to whom you send wholesome memes every day. You excel academically but your social skills need some work, only if you want to, though. You’re the most productive when you’re by yourself. However, if you’re ever out in public, you’re only seen in white. You don’t talk much and your assignments always happen to be the briefest. However, you’re very introspective and understanding of people’s dilemmas and complications.
So, which of these writers do you feel you’re most like? If you can’t really relate to any of them, there must be some other author you could associate with more. It is fun when you’re drawing parallels with someone without whose works your academic life probably would’ve been a tad bit better anyway.
