BNP picks GM Siraj for Bogura-6 by-polls

BNP has selected GM Siraj as its candidate for the by-polls to Bogura-6 constituency.

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir handed Siraj the party’s symbol as token of selection at party chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office this evening.

The constituency was announced vacant after Fakhrul, who won the seat in the December 30 national election, did not take oath as a member of parliament.

BNP won only six seats after contesting the December 30 national election in which the ruling Awami League won 96 percent seats in the 300-member House.

Although the BNP branded the election "full of irregularities", five of its parliamentarians have already taken oath as members of the parliament except Fakhrul.
