Two ‘robbers’ killed in Chattogram 'gunfight'
Two suspected robbers were killed in what Rapid Action Battalion claimed was a gunfight on the Dhaka-Chattogram Highway in Choto Kumira area in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram early today.
The identities of the deceased aged between 25 to 35 years are yet to be confirmed, reports our Chattogram correspondent.
The bodies were sent to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) for autopsy.
"The gunfight took place at Choto Kumira Bridge area at around 2:30am,” Additional Director (AD) of Rab-7 Mashkur Rahman told The Daily Star.
Acting on a tip off, a patrol team of Rab-7 went to the area while a group of robbers were taking preparation to commit robbery. Sensing the presence of Rab, the robbers opened fire on them, the official said.
Rab members retaliated triggering a gunfight. At one stage, two bullet-hit bodies were recovered from the spot while the other robbers managed to flee the spot.
A foreign pistol, two guns and 31 rounds of bullets were seized from the spot.
