Road crashes kill 7 in Sirajganj, Narayanganj
At least seven people were killed and 33 others injured in separate road accidents in Sirajganj and Narayanganj districts today.
In Sirajganj, four people were killed and 20 others were injured after a bus plunged into a roadside ditch on the Dhaka-Bogura highway in Raiganj upazila of Sirajganj early in the morning.
The victims were identified as Hamidul Islam Nilu, 35, Sajahan Ali, 35, Fazlul Haque, 36, hailing from different areas of Gaibandha and Ataur Rahman, 32, hailing from Mithapukur upazila in Rangpur, our Pabna correspondent reports quoting Officer-in-Charge of Hatikumrul Highway Police Station Md Abdul Kader Jilani.
The Rangpur-bound passenger bus of Zarif Paribahan skidded off the road and fell into the ditch in Simla area around 4:00am after its driver lost control over the steering, the official said. The accident left the four passengers dead on the spot. Police and fire fighters rushed to the spot and rescued the victims. The injured were taken to Sirajganj General Hospital.
In Narayanganj, three people including two women were killed and 13 others injured as a bus hit a human hauler, locally known as Leguna, in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj in the morning.
The deceased were identified as Rina Begum, 32, and Asma Begum, 34, hailed from Kishoreganj district, and another was human hauler driver, who could not be identified immediately, our Narayanganj correspondent reports quoting police.
Quoting witnesses, Mahmudul Hasan, officer-in-charge of Rupganj Police Station, said the Dhaka-bound bus of Agrodut Paribahan crashed into the human hauler coming from an opposite direction in front of Tarabo Pakistan Mill around 6:00am, leaving a total of 16 passengers of both the vehicles injured.
The injured were taken to US Bangla Medical College Hospital in Narayanganj where three passengers of human hauler including its driver died around 10:00am during treatment.
Of the other 13 injured, five were shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) as their condition deteriorated, added the OC.
