Dhaka, Ctg bourses want black money in stock market
The Dhaka and Chattogram stock exchanges have urged the government to allow black money in the stock market considering the recent slump.
The bourses’ urge came in separate post-budget press conferences held in the capital today.
In a press briefing, Rakibur Rahman, one of the directors of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), said the government should allow the opportunity to invest black money in the stock market to revive it.
“Especially, black money can be allowed in bond investment in the stock market,” he added.
According to the DSE data, DSEX, the benchmark index of the DSE, came down by more than 500 points in the last six months. Today, it dropped by around 50 points.
Meanwhile, the port city bourse also urged for allowing the black money in the market on this ground.
In a separate press briefing today, Md Ghulam Faruque, acting managing director of the Chattogram Stock Exchange (CSE), called upon the government to allow black money in the stock market without questioning the source.
“It may be a good incentive to the market,” he said.
