Fire at Baitul Mukarram market doused

A fire that broke out on the ground floor of the Baitul Mukarram market in Dhaka this morning was completely doused after around 40 minutes of frantic efforts.

No one was injured in the fire that originated at a shop at the north gate of the market around 11:45am, Lima Khanam, duty-officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence headquarters, told The Daily Star.

On information, four firefighting units rushed to the spot and doused the blaze, he said.

The market is situated on the premises of the national mosque.
