Railway minister visits train accident victims
Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan today visited the victims, who were injured in June 23 train derailment in Moulvibazar and admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College and Hospital.
Four people were killed and more than 100 were injured as the Upaban Express, an intercity train, derailed on a bridge over Borochhera canal in Boromchal area of Kulaura upazila in Sylhet.
Today, the minister visited two victims at the hospital and gave them Tk 10,000 each, Shariful Alam, public relation officer of railways ministry told Daily Star.
Later, he visited the house of one of the dead victims Fahmida Yasmin Eva in Sylhet to console the family and gave them Tk 1 lakh, he said.
Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Md Shahab Uddin accompanied the railway minister in the visit.
