A rape accused was killed in what law enforcers described as gunfight in Chattogram’s Sitakunda early today.

Deceased Rana, 20, is accused of raping a seventh grader in a case filed in February earlier this year, our local staff correspondent reports.

Maj Mehedi Hasan, deputy director of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) 7, said his forces raided Amirabad area on information about some miscreants.

“When our men reached the spot, the miscreants opened gunfire. Our forces retaliated with equal, triggering a gunfight,” he told The Daily Star.

After the gunfight, Rab men found a bullet hit body there, the law officer said. Later, his identity was discovered to be of the rape accused Rana.

Rab also recovered a gun and 11 rounds of bullets from the spot.
