‘Who will answer me why my son was killed’
Zakir Hossain Shaon used to do the dishes at the Holey Artisan Café in the capital's Gulshan where the country’s worst terrorist attack took place in 2016.
He was picked up by the law enforcing agency right after the attack on suspicion of his involvement and later died in police custody.
Today, on the third anniversary of the attack, Shaon’s mother Maksuda Begum demanded justice for her son.
“Who will answer me why my son was killed,” she asked journalists gathered on the then Holey Artisan Café premises where friends and families of the terrorists’ attack victims gathered to pay homage to their near and dear ones.
Talking to media, the mother said: “We didn't get justice as we are poor’
Shaon was detained on suspicion of being involved in the Gulshan cafe attack but later died of his wounds at Dhaka Medical College Hospital July 8.
Nineteen-year-old Shaon was taken to DMCH by police two days after the attack.
His mother Maksuda Begum alleged that her son had assault marks and swellings all over his body.
