Mahmudul Hasan, a sub-inspector of Dhaka’s Kotwali Police Station and nephew of suspended DIG Mizanur Rahman, was sent to jail after he surrendered before a Dhaka court today in a corruption case.

Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of the Senior Special Judge’s Court passed the order after Mahmudul Hasan surrendered before the court and sought bail.  

The High Court on Monday directed Mahmudul to surrender before the trial court within 72 hours.

On June 24, the Anti-Corruption Commission filed the case with its Integrated District Office in Dhaka against suspended deputy inspector general Mizan, his wife Sohelia Anar Ratna and nephew Mahmudul Hasan on charges of amassing over Tk 3 crore beyond known sources of income.

On Monday, the HC handed Mizan over to the police after he appeared before it and sought bail in the corruption case. The same court sent Mizan to jail after rejecting his bail prayer the following day.

Mahmudul Hasan, a sub-inspector of Dhaka’s Kotwali Police Station and nephew of suspended DIG Mizanur Rahman, was sent to jail after he surrendered before a Dhaka court today in a corruption case.
