Cops fire on Shibir procession in Sylhet, none hurt

Police opened fire to disperse a procession brought out by Islami Chhatra Shibir activists in Sylhet city during the Jamaat-e-Islami-enforced countrywide daylong hartal today.
But none was reported hurt, our Moulvibazar correspondent reports quoting Rahmat Ullah, additional deputy commissioner in Sylhet.
The police official said at least 25 Shibir men brought out a procession in Kumarpara around 10:15am in favour of the shutdown.
Police fired eight rounds of bullets on the procession suspecting that the activists might carry out any subversive activities.
Apart from the incident, life seems normal in Dhaka and other parts of the country during today’s daylong hartal called by Jamaat protesting the execution of its leader and war criminal Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed.
In Dhaka, the hartal appears to have little impact on the daily business of city dwellers. Traffic flow on the streets is as usual. Vehicular movement is found quite normal in the capital.

Large numbers of public transports plying different streets including Bangla Motor, Moghbazar and Karwan Bazar.
No subversive and unpleasant incident took place till 10:20am when the report was filed.
All offices and businesses in Dhaka are operating smoothly. Markets and roadside shops are open.
