Martyred FF’s family crying for livelihood in Lalmonirhat
Monaram Das, lone son of martyred Freedom Fighter Bocharam Das, and his family of five members are crying for livelihood, living in a small house of government’s Sonapukur Abasan at Daikhowa village of Lalmonirhat’s Hatibandha.
Monaram depends on catching fish but nowadays he passes life being almost unemployed as fish are not available in water bodies.
He was one and half years old when his father Bocharam Das joined the country’s Liberation War in 1971.
Bocharam Das could not come back to love his little baby as he was martyred during the Liberation War.
After some years Monaram Das became alone when his mother Suniti Bala died. Since then, poverty became his life-long relative, still accompanying him.
“Martyred Freedom Fighter Bocharam Das is recognised only in papers but not in reality as his only son Monaram Das isn’t getting any government facilities,” said Abul Hossain, a freedom fighter.
“We are working to get government facilities for him and his family members,” he added.
Freedom Fighter Noor Ali, another co-fighter of martyred Freedom Fighter Bocharam Das, said, “I can’t realize why Monaram is not getting government facilities”.
Bocharam had all kinds of documents and was enlisted in both the Indian list and Bangladesh list, Noor Ali said.
Monaram said taking help of his father’s co-fighters he appealed to the ministry concerned for getting government facilities for several times in the last 10 years but yet to get any result.
“I got only promises,” he said.
