Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) of Bangladesh Police has arrested an alleged member of banned militant outfit Hizb ut-Tahrir from Wari area in Dhaka.

Jahid Uddin Ahmed alias Zakir alias Milon alias Jahid, 48, a member of the outfit was held yesterday, Md Mahiduzzaman, superintendent of police (Legal and Media) of ATU, told The Daily Star.

He was also arrested earlier for his alleged involvement with militancy, the police official said.

The law enforcers have also seized anti-state leaflets and extremist books from his possession.

A case has been filed with Gendaria Police Station in this connection, he added.
