Taj to bring health reality show 'Hotline Commando'

For him it’s a new initiative indeed as this has nothing to do with politics.  

As part of the new venture, Sohel Taj, son of Bangladesh’s first prime minister Tajuddin Ahmad and former state minister for home affairs will host health-related reality show “Hotline Commando” which will be aired on private television channel Rtv.

The 12-episodes’ fortnight TV show will be aired from the first Tuesday of September at 8:00pm.

Revealing this information at a press conference at a city hotel, Sohel Taj said “Hotline Commando” team will visit people door to door to know their various social, health and food related problems and will try to give expert suggestions to resolve those.

Citing various problems in our social and health life, Sohel Taj in the jam packed news briefing said, “We will not be able to build sonar Bangla if people do not remain fit.”

He said the “Hotline Commando” team will try to give reality based solutions to people for their various social and health related problems.

Describing reasons for coming up with this initiative, Sohel said he has received so much love, affection and respect of people and now he wants to pay it back.

He said “Hotline Commando” is his way of paying back for people’s love.     

Asked whether he will join in politics again, Sohel Taj said at present he has no scope to become active in politics.

“If the society and its people are not prepared, then how will you do politics? We will get solutions of various problems if we can build the society and its people. May be this is my way to do politics,” he added.

Sohel was made a state minister for home affairs in Hasina's 2009-2013 cabinet but resigned after six months.

He has been living in Maryland, US, with his family members following his resignation as the state minister.

The former junior minister resigned as lawmaker on April 23, 2012, and declared that he would no longer be involved in active politics.

Recently in his verified Facebook page, he posted a video teaser that says: “Sohel Taj is coming at your door. Are you ready?”

In the facebook post, he also wrote; “I can knock at your door--no matter where are you staying at village or town, Teknaf to Tetulia, Europe to America, Middle East to Asia.”

Speculation surfaced among people and media that Sohel Taj who is refrained from doing active politics since 2012, may come up with a new political or social initiative.

When journalists today asked about people’s frustration for his such involvement in TV reality show, Sohel Taj said: “May be this [involvement in Hotline Commando show] is my way to do politics and to build the society.”

He also categorically said there is no chance to turn “Hotline Commando” initiative into a political platform.

Sohel, however, said the programme will not be limited to being only a reality show as they have plan to hold various activation programmes like seminar, holding camp at schools and universities, live interaction at Facebook and social awareness programmes.

In reply to a query, Sohel said he and his family will always be there with Awami League in future in its bad time.  

A memorandum of understanding was signed among Fitnation Media, Mitsubishi Motors, Suzuki Motorbikes, RTV and Karuj Communications regarding the reality show.
