5 more arrested over Badda mob beating
Five more people were arrested in a case filed over beating a woman to death in Badda.
The arrestees are Murad, 22, Sohel Rana, 30, Billal, 28, Asadul, 22 and Raju, 23, Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Badda Police Station told The Daily Star.
They have been arrested from different places in Badda yesterday night.
So far, 13 people have been arrested in this incident.
On Saturday, Taslima Begum Renu, 40, a single mother of two, was beaten dead by a mob in the capital’s Badda around 8:30am when she went to Uttar Purba Badda Government Primary School to ask about the admission process.
Her nephew Nasir Uddin Tito filed a case against 400 or 500 unknown people with Badda Police Station last night.
Locals told police that some locals thought that she was a child kidnapper and attacked her.
Videos taken on mobile phones and CCTV footages from nearby buildings show some youths kicking, striking and trampling the 40-year old woman, amid a gathering of several hundred people.
Most of the people seen in the video played the part of silent spectators when the mob descended upon Renu.
The incident came a day after three people, including a woman, were beaten by a mob in Thakurgaon.
