2 die of dengue in Dhaka, Savar
Two persons today reportedly died of dengue fever in Dhaka and Savar.
The deceased were identified as Rita,30, hailing from Tongi of Gazipur and Jewel Mahmud Nayan, son of Abdul Jalil of Kulla village in Dhamrai upazila of Savar.
Rita who was undergoing treatment at Intensive Care Unite (ICU) of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), died this afternoon, Sub-Inspector Abdul Khan of DMCH police outpost said.
It is suspected that Rita has died of dengue, but it can only be ascertained after pathological tests, Brig Gen AKM Nasir Uddin, director of the DMCH, said.
Meanwhile, Jewel Mahmud Nayan died at Enam Medical College Hospital in Savar, the outskirt of the capital Dhaka.
Nayan’s family members said the patient had been suffering from fever for the last 10 days.
Nayan was first taken to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital where he was diagnosed as a dengue patient.
On July 27, Nayan was admitted to Enam Medical College Hospital from where he was shifted to Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital as his condition deteriorated.
Contacted Yousuf Ali, duty manager of the hospital, said Nayan was a dengue patient and he was undergoing treatment at the ICU of the hospital.
Nayan was released from the hospital this morning as his family members requested for taking him to another hospital, the official said.
Later, the patient died at the hospital’s emergency unit while he was being taken to another hospital for better treatment, he added.
