Don't bar cattle-carrying vehicles without specific complaints: IGP
Inspector General of Police Mohammad Javed Patwary has urged all police officials not to prohibit any cattle carrying vehicles without specific complaints ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.
He told this at quarterly crime conference at the police headquarters in Dhaka today.
All metropolitan police commissioners, range deputy inspector generals (DIGs), and district police superintendents were present at the meeting.
No cattle markets will be allowed at the highways, IGP said. The traffic condition on roads, waterways and railways should be kept normal, he added.
The police chief also directed all police officials to take proper measures to control smuggling of cows raw hides.
He further said that plain-clothes policemen will be deployed at all major Eid congregations (Jamaat) across the country to ensure security.
He also called upon the lawmen to remain alert against rumours and build awareness about the dengue fever.
