FR Tower owner Tasvir Ul Islam gets bail
A Dhaka court today granted ad-interim bail to Tasvir Ul Islam, one of the owners of Banani FR Tower, in connection with a case filed over his alleged involvement in illegally extending the building.
Judge KM Emrul Kayesh of Senior Special Judge’s Court of Dhaka granted Tasvir bail till August 29 considering his health condition and old age.
He secured bail a day after he was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in connection with the case.
During the hearing, Tasvir’s lawyer Ehsanul Haque Samaji told the court that his client has been suffering from different ailments including heart disease.
Public Prosecutor Mosharraf Rahman Kajol opposed the bail petition saying that the accused was directly involved with design manipulation. If he gets bail, he will obstruct the investigation and damage evidence of the case, the prosecutor added.
Earlier, the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court of Dhaka granted him bail in another case on the same ground.
The other case was filed in connection with the incident of fire that ripped through the high-rise building on March 28, killing 26 people.
