3 rape accused held in Barishal

Three accused in connection with two separate rape cases have been arrested in Barishal, police said today.

Farid Hosain, a day labourer, was captured red-handed by locals after he along with five other youths raped a 25-year-old woman at a rented house last night, our Jhalakathi correspondent reports.

The victim used to live there as a tenant with a couple, said Md Nurul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Police Station.

The couple could not help the woman as the armed criminals threatened to kill, the police official said.

Later, police arrested another “rapist” Alamin based on Farid’s information.

Meanwhile, Ryhan Hasan Hawlader, 24, son of Abul Kalam Hawlader from Rahamatpur in Babuganj of Barishal, was arrested from the city’s Sagardi for allegedly raping an 18-year-old college girl and uploading an video of the incident in social media, the OC said.

Two separate rape cases have been filed with the police station.

Police are raiding different areas to arrest the other culprits, he added.
