Facebook to hold meeting with Govt in Sept
Facebook has approached the government for a discussion to fix some issues, Posts and Telecommunication Minister Mustafa Jabbar said today.
He came up with the information in a meeting on the Cyber Threat Detection and Response project at the department of telecom in Dhaka’s Tejgaon area.
The government will discuss security and tax-related issues and will ask the social platform to set up an office in Dhaka as soon as possible, the minister said after the meeting today.
Jabbar informed that Facebook’s Bangla language team will also be present in that meeting.
The request of discussion came one year after the telecom ministry asked the Facebook authorities to fix the issues.
Different-level Facebook officials earlier came to Bangladesh in different time but this time policy making officials from Facebook headquarters requested for a meeting in between September 21 to 23, Minister Jabbar added.
“There are around three crore Bangladeshi users connected with the social platform and Facebook is earning a huge amount from here,” said Jabbar.
Earlier in February, the minister during a meeting at the World Mobile Congress in Barcelona of Spain urged the Facebook authority to establish an office in Dhaka to run their smooth business in the country.
