Human chain protests allegations against JU VC

A section of teachers and employees of Jahangirnagar University brought out a human chain today to protest allegations of corruption and irregularities in development projects on the campus against the vice-chancellor and her family members.

Terming the allegation false and fabricated, the speakers alleged that a vested quarter is trying to halt the development of JU in the name of protest.

Under the banner of Bangabandhu Shikkhok Parishad, teachers, officials and employees formed the human-chain at the university's Central Shaheed Minar premises around 11:00am, reports our JU correspondent.

Meanwhile, another group of the protesters who were demonstrating on the campus since August 23 with the demand of planned development, judicial probe into the allegations of corruption and irregularities centering the mega project and endangering the bio-diversity brought out a procession at around 1:00pm to press home their demands.

The protesters alleged the VC played the role of mediator of giving Tk 2 crore to BCL men to keep their mouth shut.

In morning human chain, Layek Sazzad Andallah, a syndicate member of the university, urged the other group of protesters not to oppose the development activities rather resolve the matter through discursion with the university administration.
