Who to steal the show – Kane Williamson or Kumar Sangakkara?
When host New Zealand will take former champion Sri Lanka in the inaugural match at Hagley Oval, Christchurch on February 14, several players will be expected to star in the match. As the saying goes on – “Morning shows the day”, the two teams will try to make their mark how far they would go in the biggest event of the sport.
Two players from the teams – Kane Williamson of New Zealand and Kumar Sangakkara of Sri Lanka – might dazzle the inaugural show.
At 24 years, Kane Williamson has certainly achieved plenty at the top level of cricket. The talented batsman came to the attention of selectors after a string of strong performances for Northern Districts and made his One-Day International debut for the Black Caps in August 2010.
Meanwhile, Kumar Sangakkara is arguably the greatest Sri Lankan player of all time. The wicketkeeper-batsman is padding up for his fourth ICC Cricket World Cup in 2015 and will certainly hope to help take Sri Lanka that extra step after the team finished runners-up at the last two tournaments.
