DID YOU KNOW: In Apur Sansar, Sharmila Tagore, who plays the role of Apu’s wife, was only fourteen when the film was shot. In 2005, Time Magazine also put Apur Sansar in the list of top 100 films of all time.

DID YOU KNOW: When Anand died, Amitabh Bachchan’s character, Dr. Bhaskar was seen crying and cuddling the lifeless body. Later, Amitabh Bachchan revealed that he was actually laughing in that shot.  The film took a little bit of inspiration from the 1952 film, Ikiru, directed by Akira Kurosawa.
