JnU celebrates 14th anniversary
Jagannath University authorities are celebrating its 14th founding anniversary today amid festivity and fanfare.
To mark the “Jagannath University Day”, the university chalked out elaborate programmes which include hoisting national and university flags, colourful procession, discussion programme followed by cultural performances.
JnU vice-chancellor Prof Mijanur Rahman inaugurated the day-long programmes by hoisting the national flag and releasing pigeons around 9:45am.
Clad in traditional dresses, the students, teachers and staff later joined a colourful procession led by the JnU VC which paraded around the campus.
The celebration will be concluded through cultural performances.
In 1868, Jagannath Roy Chowdhury founded a school, which was upgraded to a college in 1884. The college was turned into a public university on October 20, 2005.
It has around 17,000 students now.
