‘If Menon was minister, would he be able to ask this question’
No conversation on behalf of the party or government was held with Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon so far over his claim that people could not vote on December 30 parliamentary polls, Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said.
“Would he be able to ask this question if he were a minister,” Quader, also the general secretary of Awami League, asked when he was briefing reporters on current issues at his secretariat
It is not clear yet whether Menon was misquoted, Quader added.
“And if he did say that, then why did he say so after so long. The election took place a long time back,” Quader said.
Yesterday, Menon alleged that people could not vote in the December 30 parliamentary polls.
“Although I was elected in the election, I am testifying that people couldn’t cast their votes in that election. They couldn’t vote in the union parishad and upazila parishad polls,” he said.
The lawmaker was addressing a conference of the party’s Barishal district unit in Barishal city. Workers Party is a component of the Awami League-led 14-party alliance.
