Bhola Clash: Hefazat-e-Islam holds protest rally in Dhaka
Hefazat-e-Islam today held a rally in front of national mosque Baitul Mukarram protesting Sunday’s clash in Bhola that left four people dead and around hundred injured.
Traffic movement from the moremains surrounding the mosque located at Paltan remains suspended till 2:00pm when the report was filed.
Thousands of supporters of Hefazat-e-Islam gathered at the South Gate of the mosque after Zuhr prayers demanding punishment of the police personnel “responsible for the death of four people” during the clash in Bhola.
The also demanded compensation for the victims’ families; free treatment for all the injured; and unconditional release of those arrested in connection with the clash and immediate withdrawal of the case.
Meanwhile, police were seen taken position at Dainik Bangla and Paltan intersections to avert any untoward incident.
Yesterday, Hefazat-e-Islam announced a nationwide protest for today to press home their demands.
At least four people were killed and more than a hundred injured on Saturday as zealots clashed with police in Bhola’s Borhanuddin upazila over a hate-post spread through Facebook and Facebook Messenger.
