Govt tries to purify itself by netting small fishes: Fakhrul
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir today came down heavily on the government and said the ruling quarter is trying to purify themselves by arresting its petty leaders.
“The government wants to purify itself by netting small fishes. Are they genuine wrongdoers you (govt) have arrested so far? Where are the real ones?” Fakhrul said.
He was addressing Thakurgaon district unit council of Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal, a front body of BNP, in the town this afternoon, reports our Thakurgaon correspodent.
“Purification drive is on across the county for self-purification which is a good sign as the ruling quarter confesses its wrongdoing,” Fakhrul said.
He also criticised the government for depriving farmers of due price of rice and said the paddy production has declined sharply due to the absence of proper guidance of the government.
Claiming that around 80 per cent people dependent on agriculture, Fakhrul said who will transform the country into a developed one if the farmers are denied fair price of rice?
About BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s bail, Fakhrul said she deserves the bail, but the government denying her the rights with a motive to keep aside her from politics.
Earlier, leaders and activists of the BNP’s front body brought out a colourful procession that paraded different streets of the district town to make the council successful.
Central Committee Member Secretary of Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal Hasan Jafir Tuhin inaugurated the council where Anwarul Haque and Khurshid Alam were elected as president and general secretary of the unit respectively.
