3 ‘robbers’ killed in Chattogram ‘gunfight’
Three alleged robbers were killed in a “gunfight” with Rapid Action Battalion in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram early today.
The trio whose identities could not be ascertained immediately were operatives of an inter-district robber gang, our Chattogram correspondent reports quoting Rab.
Rab-7's media wing assistant director Mahmudul Hasan Mamun said the “gunfight” took place in Choto Kumira area of Sitakunda around 2:00am.
On receiving information that a group of robbers gathered at in Choto Kumira for committing a robbery, a patrol team of Rab raided the area, added Mahmudul.
Sensing presence of the elite force members, the robbers opened fire targeting the Rab team, forcing them to retaliate that triggered a “gunfight”, he said.
After a short battle, the team recovered three bullet-hit bodies and sent those to Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The Rab members also recovered two pistols, 12 rounds of bullets and sharp weapons from the scene, the Rab official added.
