Pabna university students demand VC’s removal

A section of students of Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) are demonstrating to realise their one-point demand to remove the university’s vice chancellor, proctor and student advisor.

They besieged the administration building and also locked the main gate the university for the half an hour till 12noon, reports our Pabna correspondent.

The protesting students said they started the movement on Monday to fulfil their 12-point demand. But as the authorities did not take any measures to meet their demands, they announced their one and only demand -- the resignation of the VC, proctor and student advisor, they alleged.

A section of students of the university started their protest on Monday over show-cause notices issued against three teachers for “raising voice against corruption and irregularities by the authorities.”

Yesterday, they placed 12-point demand to the university authorities seeking proper investigation into the viral audio clip where allegedly a job seeker demands his bribe money be returned.

They sit with the university authorities yesterday about fulfilling the demands but didn’t get proper response from them, students claimed.
