Children’s art competition and exhibition held at BSA
Zainul Abedin Art School and Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy has jointly organised a three-day children’s art competition and exhibition at National Art Gallery, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA), in Dhaka. The event marks the 3rd International and 14th National Children Art Competition and Exhibition.
Children aged 3 to 16 from Bangladesh, India, Nepal, USA, UK, Switzerland, Italy and Oman are participating in the art competition. 250 paintings out of a total of 4,874 have been selected for the exhibition.
During the inauguration of the exhibition and prize distribution programme, State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid, MP, graced the occasion as the chief guest while US Ambassador Earl Robert Miller, British High Commissioner Robert Chatterton Dickson, Indian High Commissioner Riva Ganguly Das, Bangladesh Enterprise Institute’s President and Former Foreign Secretary Farooq Sobhan, Duncan Brothers (Bangladesh) Managing Director Imran Ahmed, Chairman of United Insurance Company Limited Syed Aziz Ahmed and acclaimed artist and former professor of Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka Samarjit Roy Chowdhury, attended the programme as special guests. Prizes were distributed in four categories: Gold, Silver, Bronze and Zainul Gold.
Fifteen-year old Shahed Amin from Narayanganj Ideal School and nine-year old Rafiul Islam Sahitya from Tangail received the prestigious Zainul Gold Award. Additionally, the Zainul and Special Mention Awards were distributed to the participants in four categories, based on their age. The exhibition will run till November 3.
