2 Bangladeshis shot dead by BSF in Sherpur
Two Bangladeshis were shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) in Babelakona bordering area of Sreebardi upazila in Sherpur early today.
The deceased were identified as Ukil Miah, 25, son of Suruj Miah of Meghdal village, and Khokon Miah, 25, son of Azizul Haque of Matifata village in the upazila, reports a correspondent.
Khadaker Abdul Hai, company commander of Kornojhora BGB camp, said they initially came to know that BSF members shot them when they crossed the border.
Ukil, a college student, and Khokon, businessman by profession, were friend each other.
According to police and Border Guard Bangladesh, BSF members shot Ukil and Khkhon when they went to Babelakona village near Bangladesh-India border early morning and mistakenly crossed the border.
On information, BGB members recovered the body of Ukil from Panibari area in the morning while the body of Khokon Miah was recovered from Kornojhora River adjacent to the border around 3:00pm.
Mohammad Ruhul Amin, officer-in-charge of Sreebardi Police Station, said the bodies that bore bullet injury marks were sent to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
A general diary was lodged with the police station in this connection, the OC added.
The BGB also protested the killing incident through a flag meeting with the company commander of Ringkhingpara BSF camp, Khadaker Abdul Hai further said.
