The Supreme Court today granted bail to three accused of 23-storey FR Tower design forgery case, clearing the way for their walk out of jail.

A four-member bench of the Appellate Division headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order after hearing three separate petitions filed by the accused seeking bail in the case.

The accused are: FR Tower land owner Syed Md Hossain Imam Faruque, Rajuk’s former inspector Md Aurangzeb Siddique Nannu and its former deputy director (estate) Md Sawkat Ali.

A devastating fire in the 23-storey building left at least 25 people dead and 73 injured in March this year.

A Dhaka court on Nov 17 sent the three accused to jail after their surrender following a HC order.

The lawyer of the accused Advocate AM Aminuddin appeared told The Daily Star that his clients will get released from jail after the SC order reaches to the jail authorities.

Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan appeared for the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) in the case.
