29 held with 7,183 cartons of cigarettes at Ctg airport

Customs officials detained 29 passengers with 7,183 cartons of cigarettes from a flight of Biman Bangladesh Airlines at Chattogram airport early today.

The officials found 14,36,000 pieces of cigarettes in the cartons, said Riadul Islam, deputy commissioner of Chattogram Customs House.

The price of the cigarettes is worth Tk 1.5 crore, DC Riadul told our staff correspondent.

The detained persons landed at Shah Amanat International Airport in the port city by a flight of Biman BG-138 from Dubai via Madina around 5:30am, the official said.
