President Abdul Hamid today called for taking effective measures to ensure quick disposal of cases.

He made the call when newly appointed nine additional judges of the High Court Division met him at Bangabhaban this evening. 

The President said the judiciary is people’s last resort to seek justice.

Acknowledging that the number of judges is less than the requirements, he said existing judges will have to take effective measures to ensure the quick disposal of cases with competence and speed to ensure justice to people.

Abdul Hamid hoped that the trial process will be expedited with the support of lawyers, judges and all concerned.  

Calling for enhancing the use of the ICT in the trial process, he said it will not only help finish the trial in the shortest time but also bring more dynamism in the trial proceedings.

The President also expressed the hope that the newly appointed judges will perform their duties with honesty, sincerity and neutrality.  

The new judges are Muhammad Mahbub-ul-Islam, Shahed Nuruddin, Md Akhtaruzzaman, Dr Md Zakir Hossain, Md Mahmud Hasan Talukder, Kazi Ebadat Hossain, AKM Zahirul Haque, KM Zahid Sarwar and Kazi Zinat Hoque.

Secretaries concerned to the President were present during the meeting.
