AL’s Dhaka north, south get new leaders

Sheikh Bazlur Rahman and SM Mannan Kachi have been elected as president and general secretary of Dhaka north unit of Bangladesh Awami League respectively for the next three years.

Besides, Abu Ahammad Mannafi and Humayan Kabir have been elected as president and general secretary of Dhaka south unit of AL respectively for the same period.

Both the units got the new leadership during the triennial council held at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in Dhaka today.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, also president of the ruling AL, inaugurated the council as the chief guest by hoisting the national flag and releasing pigeons and balloons in the morning.

Haji Abul Hasnat, outgoing president of Dhaka South City AL, was presiding over the council.

AL General Secretary Obaidul Quader, Dhaka North City AL President AKM Rahmatullah and its General Secretary Sadeq Khan and Dhaka South City AL General Secretary Shahe Alam Murad were present at the council.

The last council of the undivided Dhaka City Awami League was held on December 27, 2012.
