Quader warns BNP against anarchy over court verdict
Awami League General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today said a befitting reply will be given if BNP carries out anarchy centering the verdict of cases against the party’s chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
“The government will have nothing to do, if the court does not grant bail to Khaleda Zia. If BNP carries out anarchy centering the verdict, a befitting reply will be given,” he said.
Quader said this while talking to reporters after paying glowing tributes to Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy by placing a wreath, on behalf of the AL, at the legendary politician’s grave on the premises of Doyel Chattar in Dhaka marking his death anniversary.
The AL general secretary said Suhrawardy had struggled for democracy throughout his entire life. His extraordinary leadership qualities had shown the nation the right path, he added.
Quader said the unparallel leader had great contributions to the struggle for establishing democracy, justice and the rule of law.
Awami League is still following the ideals of Suhrawardy to give institutional shape to democracy, he added.
AL Organizing Secretary AKM Enamul Haque Shameem, Office Secretary Dr Abdus Sobhan Golap, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Information and Research Secretary Afjal Hossain and Forest and Environment Affairs Secretary Delwar Hossain were present on the occasion, among others.
Besides, leaders and workers of Dhaka City North and South units of AL, Swechchhasebak League, Jubo League, Krishak League and Chhatra League paid tributes to Suhrawardy by placing wreaths at Suhrawardi’s grave.
Huseyn Shaheed Suhrawardy, who is also called ‘champion of democracy’, died at a Beirut hotel in Lebanon on December 5 in 1963.
