Students, teachers demand justice for Rumpa
Students and teachers of Stamford University today staged a demonstration demanding justice for one of their fellows, Rubaiya Sharmin Rumpa, whose body was found in Siddheshwari area of Dhaka on Wednesday.
Locals suspect Rumpa, 21, died after falling from a building as they heard a sound before they found her body on the street.
On the other hand, police said the reason behind her death could not be known immediately.
The students, who believe that Rumpa was murdered, formed a human chain in front of the main gate of the university around 11:30am today.
Later, the students and teachers brought out a procession in Siddheshwari area.
In the human chain, the protesters today demanded exemplary punishment of those responsible for the death.
The protesting students and teachers of the university were seen holding various placards, demanding proper investigation into the death.
The procession began from Siddheshwari area and it ended on Baily Road after parading different city streets.
