Rajshahi beat Sylhet by eight wickets
Rajshahi Royals romped to an eight-wicket victory against Sylhet Thunder in the fifth match of the ongoing Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur today.
It was an easy task for Rajshahi batsmen after their bowlers had bundled Sylhet out for a meagre 91. Although Rajshahi lost their opener Hazratullah Zazai in the very first over, an unbeaten 26-ball 44 from Liton Das and another quick-fire 25-ball 30 from Afif Hossain helped Rajshahi get over the line in just 10.5 overs with eight wickets to spare.
Earlier, after being asked to bat, Sylhet lost their opener Rony Talukder as early as in the fourth over when the right hander was trapped infront off an Andre Russell delivery after being deceived by a slower yorker from the West Indian. After that, it was leg-spinner Alok Kapali who changed the momentum of the game when he returned Jhonson Charles and Jeevan Mendis in successive deliveries, leaving Sylhet struggling at 41 for three in five overs. Sylhet could not recover after that as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. For Sylhet, both Mohammad Mithun and Mosaddek Hossain scored 20 runs each. Kapali remained the pick of the bowlers for Rajshahi, returning impressive figures of three for 17 in three overs.
