3 illegal brick kilns demolished in Aminbazar

Three illegal brick kilns were demolished in Aminbazar area, on the outskirts of the capital, this noon for causing massive environmental pollution.

The Department of Environment (DoE) also fined Tk 13 lakhs to those brick kiln owners during the drive started around 10.00am, our Savar correspondent reports from the spot.

The three brick kilns-- Titas, Mitali and MSM Bricks -- had been operating defying law, Executive Magistrate Maksudul Islam, who led the drive.

Of the total, owners of Titas and Mitali were fined Tk five lakhs each and MSM Brick TK 3 lakh, he added.

These kilns used topsoil from arable lands harming the environment, the magistrate said.
