The mild cold wave sweeping over the country, especially the north-western regions, may improve from Sunday, a meteorologist says.

“Moderate to thick fog may occur at places over the country during midnight to morning. If the foggy situation reduces, the chilling condition is likely to improve from Sunday,” said Bazlur Rashid, a meteorologist at the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

The foggy weather condition has improved compared to yesterday as the temperature difference has increased this morning, he added.

The lowest temperature was recorded at 8.4 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga today while it was 7.9 degrees celsius at the same district yesterday, he said.

In Dhaka, the BMD today recorded minimum temperature at 13.4 degrees Celsius while maximum temperature recorded at 16.2 degrees Celsius.

“Actually, the weather may start to be normal if we see sunlight,” he added.

In its forecast for the next 24 hours commencing from 9:00am Friday, the Met office said weather may remain dry with partly cloudy sky over the country.

The mild cold wave sweeping over the regions of Rajshahi, Jashore and Chuadanga may continue. Night and day temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country.

The severity of the cold is higher than previous years as the cold wave from the Himalayan side is sweeping through the northern region, according to the Tentulia met office.

The lowest temperature in Lalmonirhat was recorded at 10.0 degrees Celsius this morning, the met office said.

During a visit to different areas in Lalmonirhat today, our correspondent reports that people of the district has been experiencing extreme situation due to severe cold wave.

Due to the dense fog, vehicles are moving slowly in the district town using headlight, said the correspondent.
