‘Drug peddler’ held with yaba in Dhaka

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) today claimed arrest of a drug peddler from Dhaka’s Bhatara area and seized some 11,600 yaba tablets from his possession this morning.

Arrestee Nazmul Alam, 32, is a member of an inter-district drug peddlers' gang, Rab said in press release.

Tipped off, a team of Rab-1 launched a drive at Pragati Swarani around 7:00am and arrested Nazmul, who is from Ramu upazila in Cox’s Bazar, the release said.

The elite force also seized 11,600 yaba pills, a mobile phone and Tk 6,830 in cash, it added.

During primly interrogation, Nazmul told the law enforcers his gang members smuggled the yaba consignment from Myanmar through a river route in Cox’s Bazar.
