The draft constitution of the Jagannath University Central Students’ Union (JnUCSU) has been published, seeking opinion from everyone for its approval.

“The university unveiled the draft constitution in its website today to make the effort successful,” JnU Registrar Md Ohiduzzaman told our JnU Correspondent.

Anyone can give their opinions on the draft constitution within 90 days, the JnU registrar said.

The constitution can be modified in the next syndicate meeting based on the opinions given by people from different classes and professions, he said.

The decision was taken at the 81st syndicate meeting of the university held at its vice chancellor office on December 19.

On July 1 this year, the university authority formed a committee led by law department Prof Sarker Ali Akkas to provide necessary recommendations for amending the JnU Act, 2005, which has no section or sub-section regarding the students’ union polls.

The committee submitted its report to the JnU VC on September 22.

JnU is yet to hold a JnUCSU election since the Jagannath College turned into a university in 2005.
