1.21cr Indian rupees recovered at Dhaka airport
Customs officials today recovered around 1.21 crore Indian rupees at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.
Contacted, Assistant Commissioner of Customs Shahiduzzaman Sarkar told The Daily Star that the recovery was made at the lost and found section of the airport.
The airport authorities usually sell the luggage of the lost and found section in an auction minimum 21 days after any luggage is enlisted in the section.
While preparing an auction list today, the rupees were recovered from a carton of blanket, Shahiduzzaman informed, adding that the luggage arrived at the airport from Pakistan via Dubai in mid August.
Asked, the assistant commissioner said it is not confirmed yet whether the notes are fake and added that process was on to file a case in this connection.
