Bangladesh shines at WUDC 2020
Considered as the World Cup of Debate, the World Universities Debating Championship (WUDC) is the world's largest debating tournament, and one of the largest annual international student events in the world.
This year the championship was held at Assumption University, Suvarnabhumi campus, Thailand. Bangladeshi teams truly proved their worth in WUDC 2020.
Team IBA DU A, consisting of Sajid Khondaker and Souordip Paul from IBA, DU, secured the 11th ranking among 434 teams from 243 universities this year. They hailed as the highest ranking team in Asia. It was Bangladesh's best ever performance in WUDC. Team IBA DU A ended the competition as quarter finalists in the open category.
Team IBA DU B, comprised of Wasif Khan and Kazi Ashfaqul Huq secured the 24th position and finished as octo-finalists in the open category.
Team NSU A, consisting of Asif Mehedi Adi, and Miraz Rahman ranked as the seventh best team in the English as a Second Language (ESL) Category, and ended the tournament as finalists in the ESL Category. This was Bangladesh's third participation in an ESL Finals after 2013 and 2015.
Kazi Ashfaqul Huq and Sajid Khandaker were ranked as the tied 7th Best ESL Speakers of the Tournament, and Wasif Amin Khan was ranked as the 5th Best ESL Speaker of the Tournament.
Adel Mostaque Ahmed, Shudipto Ahmed, and Asif Hasan were recognised as the Breaking Adjudicators of the Tournament.
