SSC, HSC marksheets must be given on demand
The Supreme Court has upheld a High Court judgment that had ordered all the education board authorities to issue mark sheets of SSC, HSC and Alim examination results to examinees, if they apply for it.
A three-member bench of the Appellate Division of the SC headed by Chief Justice Surendra Kumar Sinha on November 22 dismissed an appeal filed by Dhaka education board challenging the HC verdict.
The HC on April 21 this year gave the verdict following a writ petition filed by M Nafees Salman Khan seeking his mark sheet of SSC examination.
Now transcripts with GPA results are issued to students of the examinations. Earlier, the education boards had issued mark sheets, which were stopped in 2003 as the education ministry issued a notification following introduction of the grading system.
Writ petitioner's lawyer AKM Salahuddin Khan told The Daily Star yesterday that the HC has directed the government and the Dhaka education board to give the mark sheet to Nafees in 30 days after receiving the copy of the judgment.
Though the Dhaka board authorities have received the SC order, it did not give him the mark sheet, he said, adding that a legal notice was served to it asking for Nafees' mark sheet.
