DU student rape: Case handed over to DB
Detective Branch (DB) of police is now investigating the case filed over the rape of a Dhaka University student in the capital’s Kurmitola area on Sunday night.
Officer-in-charge of Cantonment Police Station Kazi Shahan Haque confirmed The Daily Star saying that the case was handed over to the DB from the police station tonight.
However, the law enforcers could not arrest the alleged rapist till the file was reported.
The victim’s father filed the rape case with the police station against an unknown person this morning.
Meanwhile, doctors have found the evidence of rape after a forensic test of the victim.
Brig Gen AKM Nasir Uddin, director of DMCH, told the Daily Star that forensic doctors found evidence of rape of the student.
The second-year student of Dhaka University was raped and tortured in the capital’s Kurmitola area on Sunday night.
The incident happened while she was walking from Kurmitola bus stop to a friend’s house in a nearby area around 7:30 pm yesterday.
Her fellow students and several DU employees brought her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around midnight and got her admitted to the hospital.
