Group exhibition ‘Frame 74’ underway at Gallery Chitrak
Gallery Chitrak has organised a group art exhibition, Frame 74, featuring paintings of several senior artists of the 1974 batch of Faculty of Fine Art, University of Dhaka. Eminent artist Mustafa Monwar inaugurated the 10-day exhibition as the chief guest on January 3. Renowned artist Shahid Kabir and Professor Syed Azizul Haque attended the opening ceremony as special guests.
The featured artists at the exhibition are Sakina Hossain, Parveen Zaman Shammu, Rahat Nilofer, Shamina Sharmin, Wahid Zaman Tokon, Mahmudur Rahman Apu, G M Khalilur Rahman and Md Farid Hossain Siddiqui.
Freedom fighter G M Khalilur Rahman features geometric forms together with a feminine visage in one of his works, while Mahmudur Rahman Apu’s door series represents some abandoned houses. Md Farid Hossain Siddiqui depicts pigeons, a symbol of peace, against the background of an old wall and dark window. Parveen Zaman Shammu portrays abstract imagery of nature, while Sakina Hossain depicts the face that uncannily evokes the Tagorean style.
The artworks showcase the idiosyncratic styles of the participating artists. Visitors of the exhibition can enjoy a diverse assortment of works, comprised of landscape, figurative, portrait, semi-abstract and abstract genres. Frame 74, open for all from 10 am to 8 pm every day, will continue till January 12.
