5 killed as human hauler hits bus in Rajbari

Five people were killed and three injured as a human hauler, locally known as Mahindra, crashed into a bus on Dhaka-Khulna highway in Rajbari Sadar upazila today.

Two of the deceased were identified as Rifat and Rasheda, said Masud Parvez, officer-in-charge (OC) of Alladipur Highway Police Station.

The Goalanda-bound human hauler hit the Dhaka-bound bus of ‘Green Line Paribahan’ on the highway in Char Khankhanapur area around 3:30pm, the OC said.

Five out of eight passengers of the human hauler died on the spot while three others sustained injuries, he told our Faridpur correspondent.

The identities of the other victims could not be known immediately, the police official said adding that the injured were taken to Goalanda Upazila Health Complex.

The drivers of the bus and the human hauler managed to flee the scene. Police, however, seized the bus.
