TRESemmé Bangladesh Fashion Week, 2020

The second edition of TRESemmé Bangladesh Fashion Week 2020, will be held from 23rd to 25th January at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB), with the same fervour and festivity as the year before when Fashion Design Council of Bangladesh (FDCB) showcased Bangladeshi designers in more than seven gala fashion events.

The Bangladesh Fashion Week, 2020 hopes to promote slow fashion, sustainability, and create a definite mark in the success stories of our nation’s heritage fabrics, designs, and motifs.

With an illustrious list of participants, this year’s show could not get any better.

Maheen Khan, Founder and President, FDCB, while speaking about the illustrious event of the year said, “The first few episodes of the celebrated event highlighted the khadi textile, and then, over the years, we broadened TRESemmé Bangladesh Fashion Week’s horizon to include other local fabrics and unique craftsmanship. We have done this in order to focus on our heritage looms and traditional crafts, and let the global market acknowledge and appreciate it. Having said that this year, we will be focusing on nakshi kantha stitches, shitol pati crafts, Jamdani etc., to bring into the global arena the beauty of Bangladeshi craftsmanship”.

The true aim of TRESemmé Bangladesh Fashion Week 2020, is to create trendy styles with local fabrics, motifs, and designs that are appreciated, not just in Bangladesh, but worldwide. So, anybody who has minimal understanding of slow fashion and values home-grown products, sustainability, and inclusive fashion, would be able to relate to the show and appreciate the designer’s efforts.

Even the music to be used for the fashion runways would highlight folk tunes and rhythms of the native lands, helping to blend all the elements into one end product.

“A total of nine designers would be coming from Southeast Asia, namely India, Bhutan, Nepal and Sri Lanka to showcase their products, along with our own. The basic theme will be the same for all, highlighting one’s own nation’s crafts and fabric. Everything at the show for the Bangladeshi lineup will be locally sourced and produced, natural dyes will be used and handloom crafts promoted” said Khan.

There will be enough diversity to keep the audience mesmerised and in awe of our local culture.

Every fashion enthusiast is encouraged to keep their eyes open and mark their calendars for what is shaping up to be the fashion event of the year.
